Jeff Sheng is an artist based in Los Angeles, and is known for his photography series “Fearless” which is about “out” LGBT athletes on high school and college sports teams, a collection of over 100 athletes taken since 2003. In the past five years, “Fearless” has been exhibited at over fifty venues including Nike World Headquarters, ESPN Headquarters, the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics, the 2009 International LGBT Human Rights Conference as well as over forty high schools and colleges across the United States. Sheng’s more recent photo series “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was widely covered by the media throughout 2010, including in the NY Times, the LA Times, the BBC, CNN and ABC World News Tonight.
Sheng received his BA from Harvard University and his MFA from the University of California, Irvine. He currently teaches at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
